"Company Secretary" means a company secretary as defined in clause (c) of sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Company Secretaries Act, 1980 or any other law for the time being in force and who has obtained a certificate of practice under sub-section (1) of section 6 of that Act

An Applicant has to file an application for registration with RERA in the prescribed form with fees for registration which is either approved or rejected by the authority within 30 days from the receipt of the application. On successful registration, the promoter of the project will be provided Registration No., login id and password and will have to comply of all applicable laws to real estate business which is to be managed by Company Secretary.

A Company Secretary can represent a person (promoter) before any Real Estate Regulatory Authority for registration of real estate project before real estate appellate tribunal and before any other competent authority for any other purpose under Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.

It is Company Secretary Duty to conduct Board Meetings and Internal and statutory committee meetings as per Company requirements and to explain variously applicable provision under real estate project. Further to interact with Statutory and Internal auditors for secretarial and legal function and regarding Taxation aspect of real estate of project.

The Real Estate Sector is full of complexities in its operations and there is no doubt that this sector is full of opportunities for the Company Secretaries profession.
